Random chars

Is there something else you want Panda Batch File Renamer to do? Post your requirements here...

Random chars

by tomk » September 7th, 2011, 2:18 pm

Hello,

first of all : Congratulations to this fine software and thanks for sharing it.

Suggestion
I would like to have a replace and/or "put at beginning/end" of random chars, if possible with a len to choose.

Reason
I use that to give my songs in a playlist or my fotos in a show a really random order.
I still use lucasrename (http://rename.lupasfreeware.org/lupasrename.php) for it, but your renamer has some features I prefer.

Thank and best regards
tom

Which characters would you want included?

I could easily make a change so that if you add "Insert > Sequential Number" and then set "Increase by" to "0" then it would insert a random number.

Would that meet your needs?

That would certainly work for me if setting the "Increase by" number to "0" would result in a random number.

How soon do you think you could make that happen?

Thanks very much!

Well, after today's palava - when my web-site was down due to my amateur web host...

Version 2.2 has been released.

See the release notes:
http://www.animal-software.com/panda-batch-file-renamer-version-history.php

"Setting the 'Increase by' value to '0' when inserting a number will cause a random number to be inserted."
